Computer Classes at Wava's Hall

Laura Wendorf holds several degrees. An Associate in Science of Manufacturing Engineering, Bachelour of Science in Computer Information Sciences (Suma Cum Laude), and had completed 75% of her Master's in Business Admiministration before opening her Company WholeSum Connection in 1998. WholeSum gives back to the community by Laura offering college level beginner's courses at Wava's Hall Orange City Senior Center and has been doing so since 2005. Laura has been teaching for over 25 years and began teaching computers in 1994. Classes usually begin in January, March, May, August, & October and run for eight weeks.
Classes at Wava Hall include but are not limited to the following: |
8 week courses: (meet for one hour per week-$25 (members) $30 (non-members) + book )
Digital Camera: Learn how to download pictures from your digital camera to your computer. Emphasis is placed on how to manage files once obtained, how to send them in an email, how to view the cameras contents on a television screen and how to use a USB memory stick when traveling with the camera. Digital photo editing: This class is a continuation of the digital camera class. The student should already understand file handling and the use of a USB memory stick. The lessons will cover how to adjust photos for common problems, how to resize the photo, change the photos format for different types of publication and how to distinguish the differnt types of photo software available on the market today. Word Processing: Learn the baics of how to use word processing software to develop letters and flyers. Learn how to distinguish the difference between word processing and desktop publishing software. Classroom has Word 2007 software. Internet: Learn the basics of using Internet Explorer to find what you're looking for online. This class will show the student how to operate the software, access online resouces like the Library, look up medical & pharmacuetical information, book travel online and find the best price, get maps and directions to destinations, make online purchases safely, research family geneology and use webmail sites. eMail: Learn how to use Windows Live to get, file and send email. How to setup an account, use stationery, file addresses, and how to import and export your addresses between computers. Windows Live: Learn how to use WinLive to chat via the keyboard, send messages or video chat. Signing up as well as using the site will be covered. File Handling: This course reviews file management skills needed to transfer files between computers using a USB memory stick and CDs/DVDs. Back-up techniques, file operations, file attributes, file extensions/types and disc drive configurations will all be covered. (Pre-requisite: Adv. computers) THERE IS ROOM FOR TWO LAPTOPS TO BE ADDED TO ANY CLASS
